What will happen if I put rice in my popcorn popper?

It won't pop... The only grains that will pop are popcorn and millet. Rice will burn and make a terrible smell. It will not be edible. It could toast the grains if put in for a short time but only the outer layer would be toasted. The grain would still need to be cooked before eaten
